Anxious 2 Be Thin

New to blogging! I had my Gastric Lap Band surgery on December 17, 2009 in Monterrey, Mexico.
I weighed 298 with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, swollen ankles and absolutely no energy.
I left the hospital in Monterrey the day after my surgery with no idea what I was supposed to do. I got no meal plan, diet instructions or nutritionists advice. I was left alone and abandoned with just the post op instructions of drinking liquids for the first 2 weeks, then to proceed to mushies. I had no idea what mushies meant! No idea if I needed to take vitamins or when I could start exercising.
When I got back home, I started looking on the internet for lap band recipe ideas and menus and found this site that was a big help to me. I got recipe ideas and read other lap band stories that gave me hope and motivation.
I have not lost much weight. I now weigh 274, but I no longer take my blood pressure pills and I feel much more energetic and healthy. I do not exercise regularly and it's hard to know what foods have protein.
I still cheat eating chips and cookies and am amazed that I never have a stuck episode with anything that is unhealthy. It's true that your brain tells you that you are still hungry and makes you think back on when you were able to sit at a fast food restaurant and eat a #1 supersized with a milkshake or a sundae after the meal.
I am glad I got the lap band after much fear and denial. It was a tough start due to the lack of information, but now I am glad for it and would never go back.
