Carbs, Sugar, and Sodium after Gastric Banding

by Maria
(whittier, CA)

How much carbs, sugar, sodium intake per day?

Review the lap band pyramid here and see the sample menu suggestions to get an idea of what you should eat over the course of a day.

Regarding sugar: 4 grams of sugar =1 teaspoon.

I suggest choosing foods that have no more than 4-8 grams (1 or 2 teaspoons).

Regarding sodium: Aim to eat less than 2,300 mg of sodium per day. Some people — African Americans, middle-aged and older adults, and people with high blood pressure — need less than 1,500 mg per day.

1 teaspoon salt has 2,300 mg of sodium in it.
