Diet forever?

by Renee
(Pearlnad, TX)

Ugh! I have almost had the lap-band for a year. I have not been able to reach my goal. Will I have to diet forever? I feel like I will never lose this weight.

I have confidence you'll reach your goal...if you're willing to do the work necessary!

The lap band is only a tool. It's up to you to make good food choice and exercise regularly...forever. Hopefully the lap band inspires you to do so and helps you feel full on smaller portions.

I suggest getting committed to the process, not the outcome. That is, get committed to eating the right foods and the right portions. Weight loss will inevitably follow.

More here about what to do when you stop losing weight.

You can do it!

Diet forever
by: Tom

Hi

If you plateau I suggest you start keeping a food journal... if you have access to a nutritionist or maybe have your family doctor review it with you on a weekly or even a monthly basis.

I found keeping a food journal kept me on track and motivated. I reviewed monthly with my family doctor.

I still get weighed and measured once a month by my family doctor even though I'm at goal.

While I was losing I plateaued 2 months in a row BUT lost is in inches. My family doctor suggested I increase my protein intake (snack on protein). This really helped to kick start my metabolism.

Also, if you have issues eating at night try not to eat past 7 p.m. or at least 4 hours before you got to bed... if you want a snack... try eating veggies and dip or chunks of turkey, chicken and dip.

I still snack now and then... usually around 9:30 p.m... I love baby carrots and a homemade dip I make with Miracle Whip Light.

Hope this helps.
