Eating Bread
after Gastric Lap-Band Surgery

by kaz
(England)

Can you eat bread when you have had a gastric band?

Maybe...maybe not!

I'm sorry I don't have a definite answer for you. There is some trial and error involved with the gastric band diet. Bread is one of the foods that is likely to cause problems, but there's a small possibility it won't.

Many surgeons tell their patients not to even try eating bread. I say...

proceed with caution. Try whole wheat bread. Take a very small bite (the size of a pea). Chew well (25-30 times). See what happens!

Also, toasted bread seems to be better tolerated than untoasted bread.

Here's more about bread, rice, and pasta on the gastric lap-band diet.
