First Day After Gastric Band Surgery

by Valerie Lemus
(Waterford, Ca)

First Day Post Op Food Question:

I was wondering if it is ok to eat a "low sugar" vs. "no sugar" popsicle.

I could only find the ones with sugar in them and can't get to a store for a few days. I know why I should not have them, but will it hurt my stomach if I just have a couple over the next few days?

Yes, it's fine to eat the popsicles with a little sugar. They shouldn't hurt your stomach at all. The worst thing that will happen is that you eat a few more calories than you otherwise would have with the "sugar free" popsicles.

If you have bags of frozen fruit in your house, you can blend some of the fruit with water and then freeze in popsicle molds (or little dixie cups) to make your own nutritious popsicles.

Congrats on your recent gastric band surgery! Feel free to blog here and keep us updated on your progression through the various diet stages, and your overall progress.

HUNGRY HUNGRY After LAPBAND SURGERY
by: SHERRY

It's only been 9 days since my LAPBAND surgery. I'm so so hungry. This makes me worry.

I've been doing protein shakes 3x a day for the past 4 days and I'm already sick of them!

Yesterday I ended up eating 4 bites of lasagna with no problem. I could of eaten more! Now I'm really nervous.

I'm told only protein shakes - why? Is it for your healing? I feel like if my body tolerates it - then it's ok. I really need help. This doesn't sound like I'm off to a good start....
