Im eating so much!!!

I had a gastric band fitted 7 weeks ago, and have lost 3 stone since.

However, I am able to eat loads!! When I say loads, I mean: a cereal bar for breakfast, a big salad for lunch, and maybe salad and some tuna for dinner.

I'm only eating about a quarter of what I used to, but I still think I'm eating too much. I can pack away a sizeable restaurant meal.

I haven't had the band tightened. Is this why?



Once you have a lap-band fill you won't be able to eat as much.

Until then...

...Don't forget that if you eat and drink at the same time, you'll be able to eat more than if you avoid eating and drinking together.

Avoid drinking 15-30 minutes before your meals and 15-30 minutes after your meals. Fluid with a meal pushes the meal through the band faster! Review the 10 Commandments of Bariatric Eating.

Also remember to slow down and chew your food thoroughly. Take pea size bites and chew each one 20-30 times. More on how to eat here.

Don't worry so much! If you're eating less than you used to (even though it's more than you want to), you should still lose weight!

First of all, congratulations on the great weight loss~ Fabulous~

I had the same situation as you. I had the lap band placed, lost 31 lbs. in about 3 weeks but then was able to eat almost normal amounts.

Then I had my first fill...still eating almost the same amounts. This made me extremely nervous.

I recently (last 2 weeks) had my 2nd fill and WOW what a difference. I have difficulty every morning swallowing my protein shake. Scrambled eggs are difficult, I even had an omelet that took me over an hour to eat while waiting for the food to go in without coming right back up.

I have found it is much more tight in the morning than in the afternoon, but I have been doing great on protein shakes and soup. Chicken is okay if you REALLY grind it up with your teeth.
Any skins are difficult..the skin of a tomato, bean skins, etc. I have found they stick in the opening.

It is a learning experience.

One of the things I do for protein is have a piece of whole wheat (soft) bread with a little almond or cashew butter. It satisfies me and gives me protein when I don't want a lot to eat.
