Portion control dishes, including portion plates and portion control bowls are a good idea if you're trying to lose weight.
(Small utensils aren't a bad idea either.)
However, they're must haves if you've had weight loss surgery.
Reasons to Use Portion Plates and Portion Control Bowls
Portion Control Dishes Make A Small Amount of Food Appear Visually Appealing
Your bariatric surgery made it possible to feel full on a small amount of food. But let's face it. The surgery works on the stomach, not the eyes!
As you may or may not already know, it's possible to feel physically full after eating a small amount of food, yet mentally unsatisfied and totally deprived.
That's where portion control size plates and bowls come in.
Using portion control dishes...both portion control plates and portion control bowls...make a small serving size of food look appealing.

Portion Size Plates and Bowls Assure You Eat the Right Amount
In theory, weight loss surgery will make you eat a smaller amount (~4-8 ounces per meal).

If you start off with the right amount by using portion dishes, you'll have a better chance of finishing with the right amount.

Chances are that everyone in the family can benefit from using smaller bowls and plates (and cups and utensils)!
Let's face it...it's hard to know what a "normal" serving size is anymore because portions have gotten so gi-normous!
