Portion control dishes, including portion plates and portion control bowls are a good idea if you're trying to lose weight. (Small utensils aren't a bad idea either.) Reasons to Use Portion Plates and Portion Control Bowls Portion Control Dishes Make A Small Amount of Food Appear Visually Appealing Your bariatric surgery made it possible to feel full on a small amount of food. But let's face it. The surgery works on the stomach, not the eyes! As you may or may not already know, it's possible to feel physically full after eating a small amount of food, yet mentally unsatisfied and totally deprived. Which bowl would you rather be served?! Portion Size Plates and Bowls Assure You Eat the Right Amount In theory, weight loss surgery will make you eat a smaller amount (~4-8 ounces per meal). It's possible however, to eat more than you're supposed to. If you start off with the right amount by using portion dishes, you'll have a better chance of finishing with the right amount.
