Post op Gas?

I am post op 4 days with the realize band. How long will I feel the discomfort of the post op gas? It has been so severe that twice I have felt the urge to vomit. Has anyone experienced this, and if so what is a solution?

Gas Pain

The gas pain finally subsided after about a week. I had to move around alot and live with it but it does go away. Now I am coming along nicely.

i have vomited few times after surgery....the trick is to take very small sips of liquid and keep walking....then gas is not a very big problem.

I am 5 days post op all is well except the stabbing gas pain on the left it appears to be relentless I have tried everything and nothing seems to be working HELP

Hi Carla,

I meant to comment yesterday. I truly appreciate your comment regarding the Pepcid. I will ask my doctor to prescribe it for me, as I still have a little discomfort from gas or (indigestion). As far as pain in the port area, I have not experienced. Now my scar in that area is still a bit tender, and I find comfort from placing a pillow on my tummy at night before I go to sleep. I think I am coming along quite nicely, I had an opportunity to dance with some of my little friends on yesterday which help move some of the gas around and loosen up the tightness from my scar. I think banding is a great option from my lifestyle as it offers the restriction that I feel I need to be successful in reaching a healthy weight.

Sure, Pepcid is what the Doc prescribed to me. 20 mg. I sure hope that helps. I am feeling discomfort in the port area as well.

Thanks so much for the comments! Can you please tell me what the antacid is? Pleaseeeeeeeeee! I love the band, but the gas, that's another story!

I also was banded on Aug 11 2010. I am experiencing the same discomfort. What seems to help me is the doc prescribed antacid I take religiously one a day. And to walk around and move.

I found a heating pad on my chest/stomach helped with the gas.

Mine lasted 3 days.
