Setback number two

by C
(Tucson)

So I'm not sure whether or not I blogged about my first issue, but my wound after surgery became infected. Nothing major just a superficial infection but it will put back my first adjustment 2 months! Even so, I have lost a total of 18lbs since this process started July 28th.

Here's the other thing, almost exactly 1 month post-banding I was back in the hospital with.....wait for it....appendicitis! Ding ding ding, I won the big prize! No, it wasn't a years supply of Rice a Roni (the San Francisco treat) it was more surgery for me, more time off and this time I didn't have any more leave so I'm only getting paid approx 65 percent of what I make and friends I cannot afford that.

My poor body was not ready for that and I felt as though I went through the wars. My surgeon was fabutastic and consulted with the surgeon who did my banding so there weren't any issues of cross contamination. The last thing I needed was for the port to become infected and need to be removed.

Luckily, I was able to have it done laparoscopically (sp?)and the recovery time is very minimal. Happily, I am back to work today and really feeling close to my old self again and virtually pain free which is a godsend.
