Twenty-One Months and Starting Over After LapBand.....

I had my surgery in December 2008 – I was so excited! Had two fills and everything was going great, then my original surgeon sent me a letter saying he was closing his practice to his Bariatric patients.
Luckily I was able to find another physician associated with Memorial Hospital’s surgical weight loss program, and he did not require me to pay the $3000 transfer fee the other physicians in my area were charging.
After a year of fills and more fills with him, I’ve now gained back 17 of the 50 pounds I initially lost and this physician feels there is a malfunction with my band.
To top it all off, my 2nd physician is closing his practice and leaving the area. I am in the process of trying to find another physician who is (1) willing to take on my care and not charge this horrendous transfer fee; (2) can figure out just why my band is “leaking’ or slipping or whatever malfunction it seems to have ; and (3) someone who will consistently stay with their bariatric patient population.
This is a very frustrating & feel like a hopeless situation at times. I understand this band is a tool – and for the first year it was great! I just do not understand what happened.
When I found this website it did give me some hope and I was able to find some new food choices to try in hopes of filling up & satisfying this ever-changing pouch of mine. I do not want to keep going backward.
