Weight Loss Surgery Failure

by Heather
(La Quinta, CA. USA)

I guess I'm scared...

I had (gastric bypass) weight loss surgery in 2005 and my weight is starting to creep back up.

They're labeling it as a "weight loss failure"...and want to do lap band on the stomach they had done in 2005.

I want to know if there are some good experiences out there....

Heather,
I'm sorry to hear you're struggling. It's not unheard of to have weight creep back up after weight loss surgery. In fact, it's entirely possible, and your situation is a good reminder that weight loss surgery is simply a "tool," not a guarantee.

I'm guessing if your weight is starting to creep back on, that you've strayed from the original strict diet that you followed after surgery. (??)

It might be a better idea to get back to the basics of bariatric eating before you decide to go through another weight loss surgery!

You can also regain weight after lap-band surgery if you don't eat properly and exercise regularly so your energy may be best spent getting back to the basics.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. If you'd like personalized diet counseling, please contact me!
