When to Advance Diet After Gastric Banding Weight Loss Surgery

by Disenia
(Long Beach, Ca)

When could we eat?
When are you able to eat rice, beans and normal food?

Unfortunately there is no simple answer to this question.

Every surgery practice has their own individual guidelines about how quickly to progress through the diet stages after gastric lap-band surgery and every person progresses through the stages at different rates.

In general however, you should be back to eating solid food in ~ 4-6 weeks after gastric banding.

It's also possible that some foods that were once "normal" may never go down "like they used to." Rice may be one of these foods.

Please review the diet progression here and notes about the tolerability of various foods after weight loss surgery here.
