When to eat after gastric lap band surgery?

by Tina
(Florida)

I just had my surgery on Friday (today is Sunday).

I know I'm only supposed to eat when I'm hungry, but does that mean to eat EVERY time I'm hungry?

I've had two oz of protein shake today, and that's it, and I'm hungry again. Does that mean i NEED to eat?

Eat When PHYSICALLY Hungry
by: Suzette Kroll, RD

Yes, it's ok to eat when you're PHYSICALLY hungry (vs. emotionally hungry).

The only danger of not eating when you're physically hungry is that you wind up getting OVERLY hungry at some later point and can then wind up overeat or eating the wrong foods.

Consider eating small amounts on a planned schedule every 2-3 hours!

Congrats on your surgery and keep us updated!
